Details: According to the investigation, a 30-year-old resident of Odesa was recruited via Telegram channels by an employee of a Russian special intelligence agency.
At first, he completed a so-called test task for the Russians, and then in August 2024, on the instructions of a Russian supervisor, he joined the military service in one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Quote from the Office of the Prosecutor General: "While at the place of military service, the suspect repeatedly passed on to the supervisor data on the location of training centres, military units in Odesa and Vinnytsia oblasts, checkpoints of the Armed Forces and the Territorial Defence Forces, as well as the scheme of movement of military equipment."
Details: The Security Service of Ukraine reported that the Russian priority targets were training centres and permanent deployment points of air defence systems, where their mole had started service.
Quote from the Security Service: "According to the available data, the occupiers hoped to inflict fire on the facilities at a time when there would be a lot of Ukrainian defenders. At the time of the attack, the traitor himself planned to hide outside the military unit to continue adjusting the fire."
Details: The suspect was detained on the spot when he was preparing to send another portion of classified data to Russia.
He was served with a notice of suspicion under the article "high treason under martial law". The cadet faces life imprisonment with property confiscation.
