Ukrainian paratroopers destroy rare Russian “Terminator” vehicle in major assault near Kurakhove
In a high-stakes engagement, Ukraine’s 79th Brigade destroyed multiple Russian armored units, including a BMPT “Terminator,” thwarting Russian efforts to secure critical routes in the Donetsk Oblast.
Ukraine’s paratroopers have destroyed a dozen Russian vehicles, including a rare BMPT “Terminator” tank support combat vehicle, on the Kurakhiv front, according to Ukraine’s 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade.
Earlier, a brigade spokesperson, Orest Drymalovskyi, stated that this direction is vital for Russian occupiers as it leads to a major city in the Donetsk Oblast, the settlement of Kurakhove.
Additionally, the Russians are pushing toward the village of Kostyantynivka in this area, aiming to hold the road from Marinka to the occupied Vuhledar, strengthening their defenses.
Ukraine’s 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade said that the Tavria paratroopers repelled a massive Russian assault, where invaders deployed mechanized units with heavy equipment and infantry groups on motorcycles for rapid attacks, as per Militarnyi.
“The Russians are attempting to break through the 79th Brigade’s defense with sheer numbers. This time, they launched an assault with 13 armored vehicles carrying infantry, four tanks, a BMPT ‘Terminator’ vehicle, and four motorcycles,” Ukraine’s paratroopers reported.
However, the brigade’s intelligence detected Russian armor movement in time and hit it with artillery, strike drones, and missile systems.
As a result, the 79th Brigade soldiers eliminated 25 Russian soldiers and wounded 23 others. They also destroyed nine armored vehicles, two tanks, and four motorcycles, while two other armored vehicles were damaged.
For this assault, Russian troops used the rare BMPT “Terminator”, an armored fighting vehicle. Its primary function is to spearhead attacks alongside tanks and suppress infantry with dense fire from automatic cannons.
The paratroopers managed to halt the vehicle with drones targeting its engine-transmission compartment despite being protected by “anti-drone” grids.
It wasn’t the first “Terminator” destroyed by the 79th Brigade. The paratroopers previously eliminated another in July during one of the most significant assaults by the enemy, who deployed over 60 armored vehicles.
