Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting in New York on 24 September 2024.

The meeting follows Modi’s historical visit to Kyiv last month. At the same time, it remains unclear whether India will support Ukraine’s Peace Plan.

President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to India for its support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The meeting focused on implementing collaborative initiatives agreed upon during PM Modi’s historic visit to Kyiv last month.

Key points of discussion included enhancing trade, economic, and defense cooperation; India’s involvement in Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction; collaboration in education, science, and culture; іtrengthening interaction in international forums, particularly within the UN and G20; implementation of the Peace Formula and preparation for the Second Peace Summit.

PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to an “early resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and the restoration of peace and stability in the region.”

This meeting underscores the growing partnership between Ukraine and India, building on the momentum of recent diplomatic engagements. Both leaders emphasized their dedication to fostering bilateral relations and addressing global challenges collaboratively. At the same time, it remains unclear whether India would support Ukraine’s Peace Plan before the second Peace Summit, as requested by President Zelenskyy.
