Congressional leadership held a menorah-lighting ceremony Tuesday afternoon.
Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) are all set to attend the event, commemorating the eight-day festival of Hanukkah.
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.), who has said he will serve out his term ending in 2026, was not on the list of attendees. He is likely still recovering from a fall last week at the Capitol when he suffered a minor cut and sprained wrist.
The Jewish holiday begins this year on Christmas evening, Dec. 25, and runs through Jan. 2.
The event took place starting at about 3 p.m. EST in the Rayburn Room.
