Watch live: White House holds press briefing following collapse of Syria's Assad

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre will brief reporters Tuesday afternoon as the Biden administration enters the final stretch.

The briefing comes days after the collapse of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria, which complicates the counterterrorism mission for the roughly 900 U.S. troops in the country. Biden called the overthrow of Assad a "fundamental act of justice" on Sunday, but acknowledged that it is "also a moment of risk and uncertainty."

The White House on Monday also outlined the top priorities for the remainder of Biden's time in office, including pushing for a ceasefire in Gaza between Israel and Hamas, providing more aid to Ukraine in its ongoing war with Russia and tackling student loan debt.

The event is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. EST.
