Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed decrees on personal sanctions targeting eight Russian individuals and 51 legal entities registered in Russia which are currently operating in occupied territories of Ukraine.

The new measures would be also applied to Ukrainian citizens who continue business activities in the occupied Crimea and the city of Berdiansk in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

Earlier, the G7 countries claimed they planned to impose restrictions on Russian diamonds by 1 January 2024. Diamonds are one of Russia’s top ten non-energy industries by value, with exports in 2021 totaling over $4.5 billion, according to the US Department of the Treasury.

Japan’s sanctions now include 494 Russian entities, 27 Belarusian organizations, and six others globally.
