Zelenskyy to have two meetings with Biden in the US – Nikiforov
President Zelenskyy's upcoming US trip will include a visit to the Capitol, two meetings with President Biden, and presentations to Congress, his spokesperson revealed.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will hold two meetings with his American counterpart, Joe Biden, during his visit to the United States, Serhiy Nikiforov, the spokesperson for the Ukrainian president, said.
Zelenskyy’s US visit aims to convey the ‘victory plan’ to the President of the United States and presidential candidates, as well as to Congress.
According to Nikiforov, there will be a meeting with the US President on 25 September, which will be a brief meeting on the sidelines of the UN. An extended meeting, the spokesperson said, a big one, will be the day after tomorrow, on the 26th.
“These are the events from which we expect the most results,” he added.
The spokesperson’s comments suggest a strategic approach to Zelenskyy’s US trip, with multiple opportunities to present Ukraine’s case to key American decision-makers.
In addition to the presidential meetings, Zelenskyy will visit the US Capitol on 26 September, further broadening his engagement with American political leadership.
Bloomberg reports that some Western officials are attempting to temper expectations regarding the presentation of the “victory plan.” These officials, Bloomberg reports, “say they don’t see a breakthrough in it.”
This information comes amidst ongoing discussions about Western support for Ukraine in its war with Russia, highlighting the complex diplomatic landscape Zelenskyy must navigate during his US visit.
