Details: "We support France’s initiative for a military contingent in Ukraine as part of these guarantees and call on other partners to join this effort; it will help bring the war to an end," he said.

Zelenskyy reiterated that Ukraine finds the outcome of potential negotiations leading to a mere suspension of hostilities unacceptable, as it would primarily benefit Russia.

He expressed his expectation that when US President-elect Donald Trump officially takes office, he will intensify efforts to bring an end to the war.

"It’s up to us whether Europe supports him with a strong, united voice... For the United States to apply full pressure, Europe needs a clear position," Zelenskyy said.

Previously:

  • President Zelenskyy acknowledged that the idea of deploying a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine as a deterrent against further Russian attacks had been discussed at meetings in Brussels, adding that he was already "seeing positive developments" from some leaders.
  • Speaking to reporters in Brussels, President Zelenskyy stated that there was no need to lower the draft age in Ukraine, pointing out that the primary challenges were the shortage of weapons and the slow progress in training new brigades.
